In the age of mobile phones carrying video cameras and various other gadgets that come in with a built in camera the need for a camcorder specifically to record videos might seem pointless. But consider this, mobile phone cameras do not have quality sufficient enough that can be stored for a longer period and the best moments are often pixilated with jarring colors and big blocks of pixels that distort the image quality. Camcorders are specifically designed to suit the sole purpose of filming and recording live events.

The Kodak Zi6 camcorder is a unique piece of electronic that slides into your pocket and can be carried with ease without you noticing that you are actually carrying a camera. The videos are recorded at 720p and are of very high quality. Contrary to the use of Lithium ion batteries that need continuous charging when the camera is not in use. This camcorder eradicates the need for charging by just slipping in two AA batteries that are available at any store. When you buy the product the case comes with 2 rechargeable batteries and a carry case.
The Kodak Zi6 is a little bigger than the other mini camcorders that are available in the market and is a little more highly prices than the other as well. The qualities of the videos recorded however are very good which covers up most of the draw backs of the mini camcorder.
The camcorder comes with a 1.6 optical zoom that can be used to zoom into precision without pixilation. The Kodak Zi6 mini camcorder comes with a built in memory of 128MB out of which you can store only in 30 MB. But there are expansion slots available which can accept SD cards for storage of up to 32GB.

This is how the Kodak Zi6 looks in a hand (watch out for the size, a little biger than other alternatives)
You might find that the Kodak Zi6 has a couple of bad points that might be an issue that most users face. There is not enough built in memory available in the camcorder and the additional memory card has to be bought separately. A bad point for some and a good point for some might be the fact about the use of AA batteries in the camcorder. While a many people prefer to be able to slip in new batteries when they run out of charge, or use a couple of sets of recharged batteries, there are yet some who feel that they would prefer Lithium batteries that needs a plus point to charge. The rechargeable batteries cannot be charged using the USB port which a valid disadvantage in some cases.
The USB plug is found at the base of the camcorder and is concealed inside the camcorder. It can be pulled out whenever needed and connected to a laptop or Desktop PC. There are video output and tripod link options as well on the mini camcorder. The design of the user interface is a little complex than the usual camcorder and takes a little time to get used to. But considering the advantages of using a video camcorder to capture picturesque moments that you can treasure the various small issues that you might have becomes completely void.
