3 options are enough for confusing anyone. I was consfused when I first tried all the 3 options, all have their pro and cons, so why did I finally choose the Flip Mino HD? Basicly for the brand, the design, size and of course the software (made also for Mac!) .
If you are a person that only wants a good camera to record videos with friends, then any choice it’s a good choice. Honestly, all cameras have good quality, sound and are easy to use. The Vado HD is known for having better image quality than the others (a little bit), it also very portable (almost the same size as the Flip Mino HD) and has good software. The downsize? Ugly design and difficulty to control the buttons.
The Kodak Zi6 is also a very good option. It’s chepear than the others and has a bigger screen. The bad thing is that the software included is not that good, and, because of the size, is not very comfortable to carry in your pockets.
Like I told you before, all options are good options. So think wisely and buy your minicamera!

Hi, I was wondering if you’d know about the battery life of each camera? I heard the MinoHD is 2 hours but I can’t find the average battery life for the other two.
Two other questions I have about these cameras are; 1) Can you turn off the LCD while recording to prolong battery life (useful for times when you are shooting say shots of the city where you don’t need to make sure you have faces in the frame). And 2) I have a compact camera that does video and I know the max file size they can record up to is 2gb (perhaps it’s 4gb now). Is this true for these cameras? Or can you record say a full HD clip that might be 6 gb.
Thanks a lot for the reviews!
Thanks for your comment Chris!
The Vado HD has also a 2 hours battery life, and the Kodak Zi6 (the only that works with batteries) has a 1 hour battery life.
To your first questions, I’m pretty sure that you can’t do that with these cams. And the max file size depends on each camera:
Flip Mino HD: 4 GB (with this you will be able to record at least 4 hours of video but you will need to charge it once)
Vado HD: Has 8GB but only lets you record 4 GB max. (so it’s kinda the same that the Flip)
Kodak: Works with a SD/SDHC card slot so it can hold up to 32 GB (you have to buy it, but it seems that you can record up to 32 GB, the bad thing is that you would use like 10000 batteries.
Hope this can help you,
Cheers.
